4 Ways to Practice Self-Love

Being kind to your mind and body is the first step toward the best relationship you can have – the one with yourself. We know, easier said than done. And some days – yes, we’re talking about those bad skin days – it’s easier to beat yourself up over your appearance. So, how can you show yourself appreciation on a regular basis? Through practicing self-love. 
Self-love is not something that comes from material possessions, but rather a "regard for one’s own well-being and happiness". 

We share some tips to help get you started with your journey to self-love:

1. Practice Self-Care
Being mindful of what your body needs, rather than what it wants can be an act of self-love. Those who appreciate their minds and bodies seek healthy activities such as skin care routines, exercise, social interactions, or even staying in to have a night to yourself. It’s all about listening to what feels right for you.  

2. Positive Self-Talk
Instead of dwelling on the things you don’t love about yourself, why not remind yourself of all the things you do love? Maybe you have great hair, a contagious laugh, amazing cooking skills…the possibilities are endless! Run wild with complimenting yourself and know that it’s okay to give yourself the praise you deserve. 

3. Set boundaries
Do you know of certain foods that do not sit well with you? Does hanging out with that one person give you anxiety? Protecting your well-being begins with setting boundaries. Remember that It is okay to cut out some of the negativity in your life. And negativity shows itself in different ways such as thoughts, people, or food. It may be time to say goodbye to anything that is bringing unnecessary negativity into your life.

4. See a specialist
Taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical health is not only important but necessary. A great first step in doing this can be seeking the help of a specialist. Whether it is for your skin, your mental health, or just a routine check-up, talking with a specialist means you prioritise your overall health. These small acts can help you live a longer, happier life.
